this week, classic '80s phuea chiwit from the niranam group! as the first artists of their style signed to major label nithithat (n.t. promotion co., ltd.), niranam had a leg up from the get-go, almost equaling genre stalwarts carabao in popularity. while they had a lengthy career and unstable membership over the years, this tape (their sophomore outing from 1987) finds them early on, with frontman khanit utthayansing (nick) backed by amphon thue-khwamtrong (yoi) on lead guitar, monchai lakkham (kongs) on bass, anan thaenchetrio (rang) on drums, and rachen ritprasoet (dam) on keyboards, with multi-instrumentalists luecha ritprasoet (ot) and wuthisak methanon (kongkaeng) rounding out the sound. the production is classic nithithat; a characteristic blend of studio band and pioneering electronic touches. enjoy!

this week, a rare early album from yui yatyoe! recorded for sutcharit promotions in the early '90s, it dates from before she acquired her stage name and signed to four 's studio. yui's career was closely tied to that of superstar phumphuang duangchan, touring with her as an opening act and even playing the role of a young phumphuang in a biopic following the star's untimely passing. this album features a mix of originals (including the opening number that would become her theme song of sorts), along with a mix of cover songs in tribute to her mentor, with production handled by samak wongsarot and rachen rueangnet. enjoy!
