02. ของขวัญบันลือโลก ตอน 1 ภาค 2 (khong khwan ban lue lok, vol. 1, pt. 2)
this week, some great music from the southern thai shadow puppet theater! our artist today is nang talung ying la-ongnoi bunphrom of trang province, who leads her troupe as a skilled singer, storyteller, comedian and puppet manipulator, delivering a mix of folktale, humor, political satire and song. musical accompaniment features the classic combo of drums, gongs and cymbals supporting the oboe-like pi, alongside more recent additions like drum kit and electric guitar. on this cassette, interspersed with the more traditional nang talung performance are takes on popular luk thung songs made famous by fellow southern star sutrak aksonthong. enjoy!
