this week, a "record of successes" from '80s string star ot ronnachai! while credited solely to ot, this cassette is actually a compilation of not only his early solo material (prior to 1987), but also songs from his band khiribun (with an amicable break-up statement attributed to all six members included under the j-card fold). further adding to the confusion, some tracks seem to be re-recorded for this release, while others appear in their original versions. khiribun, a premiere combo of the day, built off the earlier string sounds of the impossibles (whose prachin songphao contributes arrangements here) and made them even mellower by blending influences from the luk krung world. enjoy!

this week, excellent molam pop from chintara phunlap! hailing from a farming family in roi-et province, chintara worked her way up through singing contests and radio appearances in khon kaen, before signing to major label grammy and quickly becoming a best-seller. her high tone and ornamented style of singing have earned her the nickname "the girl with the voice of a phin", and her short haircut and energetic presence made her an icon of her generation. this tape is her 16th and the last branded for gmm grammy, before moving to subsidiary mastertape. with songwriting by dao bandon and music by num phuthai, you can expect great things.. enjoy!
