this week's post marks the eighth in a series of cassettes gifted to us by educator cliff sloane, founder of asianclassicalmp3.org, a major influence behind this blog.
today, some more fantastic folk music from lanna! our group on this cassette is the house band of chiang mai's nakhon phanit records, an ensemble of pi (free-reed bamboo pipes), sueng (plucked, fretted lute) and salo (spike fiddle) running through a set of classic northern melodies. unfortunately, i don't know much about the players here, more information would be very welcome. in the meantime, enjoy!
